Labour law support for global companies in India

For foreign companies, their Indian subsidiaries and the teams they send to India: the Labour Codes, PF, ESIC, payroll compliance and expatriate secondments — handled by Indian specialists, explained in plain English.

Why Indian labour law needs local hands

India moved to four new Labour Codes on 21 November 2025, but each state still notifies its own rules, registrations and returns. Provident fund and state insurance are monthly obligations with strict due dates, and expatriates are covered by special provident fund rules. Group policies written for other countries rarely fit as they are.

We give your head office one point of contact in India: we tell you what applies, set it up, run it every month and report back in writing.

Questions from overseas teams

Which labour laws apply to my Indian entity?

Four Labour Codes — on Wages, Industrial Relations, Social Security, and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions — came into force on 21 November 2025, replacing 29 earlier central laws. Each state also notifies its own rules, and state Shops & Establishments laws continue to apply. What applies depends on headcount, the type of establishment and the states you operate in; we map this for you.

Do expatriates in India have to contribute to the Indian provident fund?

Generally yes. Foreign nationals working for an Indian establishment are "international workers" under the EPF scheme and contribute on their full salary, unless they are covered by a social security agreement between India and their home country and hold a certificate of coverage. We review each case and handle the registrations and exits.

Can you employ staff in India on our behalf (Employer of Record)?

No. We are a labour-law and compliance practice. We advise you, set up and run compliance for your own Indian entity, and review arrangements with employer-of-record providers or contractors so that you understand the risks.

How do you work with a team outside India?

In English, by email, video call and our secure portal. Advice is given in writing, each piece of work has a fixed quote agreed in advance, and we schedule calls in hours that suit Europe, the Middle East, the UK, the USA or Asia-Pacific.

How do you protect our data?

Files are stored in private cloud storage and are visible only to your team, our administration and the specialist on your matter. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and sign a confidentiality agreement on request.

How are fees charged?

Fixed fees per project or a monthly retainer for ongoing compliance, quoted in INR or USD before work begins. Invoices are issued by our Indian practice.
