Registers, wage slip and notices under the Code on Wages

Employers keep registers electronically or on paper in the prescribed forms, issue wage slips, and display an abstract of the Code.

The Code on Wages (Central) Rules prescribe the registers:

  • a combined register of employees;
  • a register of wages, overtime, deductions, fines and advances;
  • a register of bonus;
  • the wage slip.

Many States follow similar forms.

  • Wage slip: issue it to every employee on or before the wage payment date, electronically or on paper.
  • Display: an abstract of the Code and the Rules, the minimum rates of wages, and the name and address of the Inspector-cum-Facilitator. Display them in English, Hindi and the local language.
  • Preservation: keep registers for the period in the Rules (generally three to five years). They may be kept electronically.

The HR desk produces Forms I, IV and IX, the leave register and the wage slip from your data.
