Labour welfare fund — States and contribution

Several States collect small employee and employer contributions, usually in June and December, for workers' welfare boards.

  • States with a Labour Welfare Fund law: Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, West Bengal, Odisha, Goa and Chandigarh, among others.
  • Contribution: a fixed amount per employee, deducted half-yearly or yearly. The employer usually pays two or three times the employee's share. Some States pay it once a year.
  • Unpaid accumulations: in many States, unpaid wages and fines are also transferred to the fund.

The HR desk's State rules fill the LWF amounts and months. Check them against your State's current rate.
